"Bring the Noise" is a song by the American rap group Public Enemy, released in 1988. My own interest in noise lies mainly within the visual spectrum. I'm interested in the human eye's ability and limitations to perceive light. Color, for me, is the cornerstone of painting. In order to push color to the forefront in my works, the concepts and the figurative elements have been removed. The two paintings presented in this exhibition each consist of seven different colors, each color mixed by intuition. What appears is a form of visual noise. I like that the paintings avoid functioning as static images, that they shift and change character depending on where in the space the viewer is located. Warm and cold colors interact, drift apart and blends back together again.

About me: Based in Karjaa, originally I come from Sweden but have been living and working in Finland since 2006. In 2011 I graduated from the Department of Painting at the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts. Since then I have presented 7 solo exhibitions (this being my 8th) and participated in a number of group exhibitions. In 2012 I travelled to Peru and spent four months there to live and study with the Shipibo-indians, the native people of the rainforest. In 2016 I travelled to Tanzania to document the melting glacier at the top of Mount Kilimanjaro and was, later that same year, awarded the William Thuring price by Suomen Taideyhdistys. My works can be found in the collections of HAM, Kiasma, Pro Artibus, Suomen Taideyhdistys, Päivi and Paavo Lipponen Foundation and the Seppo Fränti collection. My paintings can be described as conceptual- minimal with a great emphasis on color.
